Got a kid who’s ready to step up their rugby game? Midi Rugby at Abu Dhabi Harlequins introduces contact rugby — slowly, safely, and seriously well coached. Your child aged 9-12 learns to tackle, ruck, and compete for real.
Midi Rugby is where the game opens up. Your child moves from Tag Rugby into contact, learning to tackle and engage physically at a pace that matches their development and comfort level. U11s play 12-a-side with 5-player scrums. U12s play 13-a-side with 6-player scrums. Matches run 20 minutes each way. Rucks and lineouts are part of the game. Scoring follows full rugby rules — 5 for a try, 2 for a conversion.
Training runs Monday and Friday evenings, 6:00–7:00 PM at Zayed Sports City. The season runs from August through to March. Your child competes in matches as well as training, building real competitive experience across a full season.
Abu Dhabi Harlequins has been running rugby in Abu Dhabi since 1970. The club is grassroots and not-for-profit — 100% of fees fund the running of the club. Coaches are volunteers and parents who bring genuine passion and experience to every session, with L1 FAIR qualification requirements in place. The club follows strict UAERF health and safety protocols including concussion management. Mouth guards are available on request. Medical insurance is included in membership from U9 upwards.
Membership for the 2025/26 season includes kit and insurance. Annual fee covers the full season. Pro rata membership is available for players joining mid-season — contact the club directly.
